The picturesque town of Medulin situated on the very south of the Istrian peninsula is one of the most important tourist destinations in Istria. Today Medulin is one of most developed places in Croatia and it is, together with its citizens, fully oriented to two factors: modern tourism and old fishing. You will spend your holidays in the atmosphere of the unique bay of Medulin with 12 islets and beaches surrounded by pine woods.
The sports offer of Medulin is surely one of its main assets. Six grass football fields, athletic track, discus and shot-put circle, long jump and high jump area, the possibility to rent a bike and to visit all the nearby areas, gym and 14-kilometer-long trim track are good reasons to interest you to spend here your holidays. Obviously, other sports are not forget as well: In Medulin there are eight tennis courts, three beach volleyball courts, six diving centers, horse centers…
There is also the fabulous promontory of Kamenjak with the little protruding part of the continent immersed in the blueness of the Adriatic sea for 9 kilometers. It offers 30 kilometers of well-indented beaches considered some of the most beautiful in the Mediterranean.
The uniqueness of this area was known already in the ancient times and even the old Romans used to spend their holidays here… The peninsula of Vižula is also known for the fact that its special quest in the 4th ct. were Crispo and Helena, son and wife of the Roman emperor Constantine. The beauty of peninsula of Vizula was recognized from Croatian archeologists and journalists.
Weather
At the Istrian coast a typically Mediterranean climate prevails with hot summers and mild winters. Istria belongs to the areas of Europe with the largest duration of sunshine. The bath season begins its high point in May and reaches in the months July and August.
The climate is controlled mainly by three hoists:
Bura – the strong northeast wind, which provides in the summer for radiating sun days.
Jugo – the warm and slow-acting south wind, which often brings rains.
Maestral – those recreating Brise in the afternoon of the west or northwest coming.
